X Factor star Lucy Spraggan scores second biggest selling track this week so far
Following her performance on Saturday night’s X Factor (August 25), Lucy Spraggan’s track Last Night (Beer Fear) entered the Official Singles Chart on Sunday at Number 70. And, according to this morning’s Official Charts Company sales data, it is currently the second most purchased song in the UK so far this week.
The Sheffield-based singer / songwriter made the judging panel giggle with her witty lyrics about the downside to drinking, prompting Louis Walsh to exclaim that the track “could be a Number 1 record.” You can watch her audition below.
As of midnight last night (Monday, August 27), Spraggan’s independently released 2011 album, Top Room At The Zoo (from which Last Night (Beer Fear) is taken) is also the sixth biggest selling album of the week.
However, according to a post on her Facebook page, both Last Night (Beer Fear) and Top Room At The Zoo are set to be pulled from digital retailers over the next few days “in preparation for some things coming up.”
Spraggan said in the post: “[It’s] not my call to make - get it while you can!”
But, based on current sales, both Last Night (Beer Fear) and Top Room At The Zoo should still enter the Official Singles Chart Top 20 and Official Albums Chart Top 40 this coming Sunday.
