X Factor single is bookies’ favourite for Christmas Number 1
According to bookmakers Ladbrokes, X Factor contestant Amelia Lily is the favourite to be this year’s Christmas Number 1.
The Middlesbrough-based singer, who re-entered the show on Sunday (November 13) has been given odds of 7 to 2. Nirvana, who are the subject of a Rage Against The Machine-style Facebook campaign to get their 1991 Top 10 single ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ to the top of the festive charts, are in second place with odds of 4 to 1. Amelia Lily’s fellow X Factor contestants – Marcus Collins, Janet Devlin, Craig Colton and Little Mix – occupy Numbers 3 to 6, while The Wombles, who are set to release ‘Wombling Merry Christmas’ on December 12, are in seventh place.
The cast of The Only Way Is Essex, who are set to release their cover of Wham!’s 1984 hit, ‘Last Christmas’, are in tenth place with odds of 14 to 1. Former X Factor winner Joe McElderry, who releases his cover of ‘Last Christmas’ on the same day as the TOWIE cast, is yet to be given any odds by the bookmaker.
