Nominations for the 2021 BRIT Awards are officially being announced on Wednesday (March 31), and Official Charts has some big bets for who could be up for the British Album of the Year award.

Last year saw London rapper Dave pick up the big prize for his debut album Psychodrama, which saw off strong competition from Lewis Capaldi, Harry Styles, Michael Kiwanuka and Stormzy.

With this year's BRITs taking place on May 11 as opposed to its traditional February slot, the eligibility period for this year's awards has also changed, taking in releases between 13 December 2019 - 11 March 2021. But who could be in line for this year's album award?

Dua Lipa is in with a strong chance of a nomination; her second album Future Nostalgia - which has yet to exit the Top 40 since its release - scored four weeks at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart last year and finished as the UK's biggest album released in 2020. Dua currently has three BRITs to her name, winning the Breakthrough and Female prizes in 2018 and British Single with Calvin Harris for One Kiss in 2019.

Another favourite is British rapper J Hus, who could pick up a nod for his album Big Conspiracy. The 25-year-old's acclaimed second record debuted at Number 1 last February and is certified gold with over 100,000 UK chart sales.

When it comes to sales units, other top performing albums by British acts over the past year who could bag a nomination include Little Mix's Confetti, Sam Smith's Love Goes, Gerry Cinnamon's The Bonny and KSI's Dissimulation.

On the critically-acclaimed end of the spectrum, Laura Marling's Song For Our Daughter, Kano's Hoodies All Summer and Charli XCX's how i'm feeling now - the latter of which written, recorded and released during the first lockdown - could all find themselves with a nomination. All three were shortlisted for last year's Mercury Prize and featured prominently in critics' end-of-year lists.

But who do you think deserves to be nominated for British Album of the Year at this year's BRITs? Vote below:

'Fine Line' was already nominated last year, while 'Heartbreak Weather' is not eligible as Niall is not British. :)

I would like to see some love for Brightest Blue by Ellie Goulding but it's probably too crowded. I hope she at least gets a British Female nomination.

Melanie C and Jessie Ware deserve nominations! Both 2020 albums are better than all the above list combined.

Melanie C ‘Melanie C’ should be nominated as this is her best album to date along with the great songs and video produced through this album campaign. Jessie Ware ‘What’s Your Pleasure?’ Also deserves a nomination, a great album of full infused dance pop which has given us what we’ve needed during the lockdown.
