Uptown Funk ties longest stay at US singles Number 1 this century
The Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars track ties with six other singles for the second-longest run at Number 1 in America ever.
The success of Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' Uptown Funk reaches new heights as the song leads this week's Billboard Hot 100 for a 14th week.
The soul-funk song now ties for the second-longest-leading US chart-topper ever, as well as tying for the chart's longest command this century.
Uptown Funk joins six other singles to have lead the chart for as long: Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You (1992), Boyz II Men's I'll Make Love To You (1994), Los Del Rio's Macarena (1996), Elton John's Candle In The Wind (1997), Mariah Carey's We Belong Together (2005), and Black Eyed Peas' I Gotta Feeling (2009).
Only one single has achieved a longer reign at Number 1; Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's One Sweet Day, which logged 16 weeks at the top in December 1995.
Elsewhere on the Hot 100 Top 10, Maroon 5 are a 2 with Sugar, Ellie Goulding's Love Me Like You Do rebounds to Number 3, and The Weeknd's Earned It reaches a new peak at Number 4.
Flo Rida's GDFR climbs from 9 to 8, and Wiz Khalifa vaults from 84 to Number 10 with See You Again, which features singer-songwriter Charlie Puth.
On the Billboard 200 album chart, Wale earns his second Number 1 with The Album About Nothing, and the Furious 7 movie soundtrack leaps from 17 to Number 2.
Other notable new entries include Action Bronson's Mr Wonderful at Number 7, Earl Sweatshirt's I Don't Like S**t, I Don't Go Outside at 12, and James Bay's Chaos And The Calm at 15.

it is not such a great song. Marc Ronson had made some better songs. It sounds like a Earth wind and Fire's single from the 70s. A good vibe. Nothing more. A good radio song. why so many people buy it?

Significantly, though, Wiz Khalifa is number 1 on the download chart so Uptown Funk is no longer the best selling single in the States.
