Top Gun: Maverick is back on top for the first chart of 2023
The record-breaker is back on top while The Batman, Smile, Jurassic World and more are on the rise
The unstoppable Top Gun: Maverick returns to Number 1 on the Official Film Chart to become the first chart-topping film of 2023.
Adding another impressive feat to its list, the film once again extends its record as the longest-reigning Number 1 on the Official Film Chart to date as it marks a tenth non-consecutive week at the top.
Several other mainstays are flying back up the Top 10 too, including Robert Pattinson’s take on The Batman, which leaps eight to Number 2. Also, on the up once again is Jurassic World: Dominion, rising five to Number 3, and action-comedy Bullet Train speeds back up seven places to Number 4.
Biopic Elvis continues to hold strong at Number 5, finishing ahead of Wizarding World sequel Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore at Number 6. Previous chart-topper and festive favourite Elf tumbles six to Number 7.
Entering the Top 10 for the very first time is mystery horror Smile (8). Starring Sosie Bacon and Jessie T. Usher, Smile sees Dr. Rose Cotter (Bacon) experiencing terrifying occurrences that she can’t explain, after witnessing a traumatic incident involving a patient.
Rounding off this week’s countdown is Spider-Man: No Way Home, which swoops 12 places to Number 9, and Downton Abbey: A New Era which lifts three to Number 10.
