Tion Wayne & Russ Millions score first UK Number 1 drill single with Body
Tion Wayne & Russ Millions score a landmark Number 1 as their collaboration Body becomes the first drill song to top the Official Singles Chart.
The track climbs from 4 to 1, scoring 71,000 chart sales (including 10.7 million streams) this week, powered by a remix featuring Bugzy Malone, Fivio Foreign, Darkoo, Buni, ArrDee, and E1 & ZT.
"We want to thank everyone for getting us the first drill Number 1," Tion and Russ told OfficialCharts.com. "Big up everyone on the remix, big up everyone involved, big up the Atlantic family… Mad love.” Watch the pair celebrate the news below:
MORE: Official Top 40 biggest songs of 2021 so far
Body’s climb to the top is a landmark moment for drill, which has seen an ever-growing presence on the charts since 2018. The sound – often dark and reflecting on life on the streets - is a style of trap music that originates from America, with UK drill emerging in early 2012.
Tion and Russ are among the leaders of UK drill: Body is Tion’s ninth Top 40 single and Russ’ fourth. In 2019 the pair collaborated on Keisha & Becky, which peaked at Number 7 and was one of the UK’s biggest songs of that year. Other notable drill hits on the Official Chart include:
Homerton B by Unknown T - Number 48 in 2018
Airforce by Digdat – Number 20 in 2018, the first Top 20 drill single
No Diet by Digga D – Number 20 in 2019
Gun Lean by Russ - Number 9 in 2019
On Deck by Abra Cadabra – Number 32 in 2020
B1llionz by M1llionz – Number 39 in 2020
Only You Freestyle by Headie One ft. Drake – Number 5 in 2020
On the success of Body, Austin Daboh, EVP, Atlantic Records, said: “Drill music gives a voice to the youth and it’s an outlet for them to express themselves. It’s been amazing to watch Body’s explosive popularity rise to a point where it has completely crossed over into the mainstream with this Number 1.
"At Atlantic we’re delighted to have played our part and to have watched the incredible results and reaction to this track. Tion Wayne is a special artist and a huge priority for myself, Ed, Briony and the rest of the Atlantic team and we’re looking forward to building on his, and drill’s, first Number 1 record."
On drill’s rise to the top, BBC Radio 1Xtra presenter and DJ Kenny Allstar described Russ and Tion as "a winning formula," adding that "they’ve conquered the charts together for a few years now with such great chemistry, it’s sick to see an authentic Number 1 single coming from the streets of London. This is yet another groundbreaking landmark for not only them but the drill scene too.”
Martin Talbot, Chief Executive, Official Charts Company said: "Over 69 years, the Official Singles Chart has seen a multitude of different genres pioneering a new Number 1 sound. The fantastic achievement this week of Tion Wayne and Russ Millons marks a brand new high point for drill and perhaps the beginning of a new era for the Official Singles Chart."
New entries and high climbers
Elsewhere on this week’s Official Singles Chart, last week’s Number 1 Montero (Call Me By Your Name) by Lil Nas X drops to 2, and Doja Cat’s Kiss Me More ft. SZA lifts three places to a new peak at 3.
Billie Eilish claims this week’s highest new entry with Your Power at Number 5. The star’s single from her forthcoming second studio album Happier Than Ever becomes her seventh UK Top 10.
The Weeknd’s Save Your Tears vaults 12 places to a new peak at Number 8 following a new remix featuring Ariana Grande, and just outside the Top 10, Little Mix enter at Number 15 with a new version of Confetti, reworked with rapper Saweetie - the group's 26th Top 20 single.
Majestic & Boney M’s Rasputin lifts into the Top 20 for the first time, up three to 18, and The Kid Laroi’s Without You re-enters the Top 40 at 30 following a new remix with Miley Cyrus.
Finally, Bradford bassline collective Bad Boy Chiller Crew claim their first Top 40 single with Don’t You Worry About Me, up seven places to 37, and producer Nathan Dawe lands his fourth Top 40 hit with Way Too Long with Anne-Marie & MoStack.

“Drill” sounds like every other sub genre of rap..not sure what makes it any different than the rest….
It would be nice if it went away, as it is so completely monotonous….
How did this truly boring track become a hit at all, never mind hitting #1?
Will
It's quite hard to explain the differences between rap genres and I only learned about the difference between drill and grime recently - both of which are different to trap (the current main rap genre and what I see as the successor to hip hop). If you don't know what trap is, its the rap music with the complex hi-hats.

As music is my life, yes, I know all these styles in theory, my point is that these trap sub genres are all the same…and they truly are all so monotonous and boring…and it’s silly to give them different names when they all ultimately sound exactly the same.
I miss good rap…you know, the kind with actually melody and originality.
Rob Parkinson
I know the feeling. The genre seems to be evolving as there is no new genres appearing so they just taking rap in different variants and stating new genre. With the amount of new musicians around, hopefully an actual new genre not particularly based on another will emerge in the not too distant future and take the charts by storm. Until then, trap, grime and some good old pop tunes and a sea shanty of course will continue to dominate

I really dislike our new number 1 single!! awful "song if you can call it that!!
Augustus Doministrix
It’s complete pish. Just more streamed in garbage. As is all drill, “music”.
Alfred Lock
Sadly it glorifies violence which hardly sets examples to today's youth..We've already had at least one murder because of it.
⁉️
Just because you don’t like a song, doesn’t mean it isn’t music. :)

AH YES A SONG CAN CAUSE SOMEONE TO MURDER!!! 😭😭😭
This may be the funniest thing I’ve ever read...

what kind of logic is that 💀

While the remix of ‘Body’ really underwhelmed me, there’s just something about the original version’s energy & bombast that really stands out to me!
The latter version alone might’ve reached the top of the charts anyway, given the momentum its been having ever since it debuted.
Again, like with ‘Montero [Call Me By Your Name]’, this going to #1 is fine for now, but I’m probably going to get really bored of it after like a month or so!
Just remember that ‘Body’ by Loud Luxury will always remain the more superior hit for me, haha. :)
Augustus Doministrix
Body by Loud Luxury was an actual song though, unlike this tripe. Not a fan at all
The Loud Luxury one was a great song 👍
Piran
I don't even dislike this 'Body', but yeah, the Loud Luxury song of the same name was actually my favourite song of 2018. :)
🧡 oliviasnoodles 🍜
even though i quite like the one by tion wayne & russ millions, the one by loud luxury was an absolute banger and one of my favourite dance bangers to hit the charts, i gotta give you that.
what a great song. 🔥
Augustus Doministrix
I think it’s completely terrible and the worst number one of the year so far, as is all drill, “music”. It’s not even music, never mind good rap.
But yeah loved the Loud Luxury one. :) 👍 to each their own.
⁉️
HOW IS IT NOT MUSIC? 😭
Rob Parkinson
I liked Kiesha and Becky and thought the next hit could be huge, it has been huge but I don't think it's improved, I really dislike both versions, seems really just rap with any melody or musical energy stripped, just my opinion though. Doja Cat with SZA though is just 'wow' hopefully next no.1 and really soon
Piran
I'm glad we agree on 'Kiss Me More'! That song just screams #1 smash to me, haha. :)
Piran
'Body' is definitely music, but I agree that there at least a couple of songs with the same title that are better than it, haha. :)
