Timbaland, Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake are getting the band back together
Timbaland, Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake are getting the band back together and reuniting for a brand new single together.
One of the hottest hitmaking teams of the mid-to-late 00s, Timbaland was the architect behind Nelly's magnum opus Loose (containing the massive banger and UK Number 1 single Maneater, as well as other influential hits like Promiscuous and Say It Right) and Justin's ground-shaking 2007 LP LoveSex/FutureSounds (which included another Number 1 single, the imitable Sexyback) before they all came together to score another Number 1 single in the form of Give It To Me, which was kind of like the 2007 version of pop music's Avengers.
Since then, though, the trifecta have drifted apart professionally - Nelly has issued two albums, none of them featuring work with Timbo, but she's on a white-hot comeback streak at the moment, and this seems to have had enough gravity to pull the three stars into the studio for the first time in over 10 years.
Yesterday (August 23), Timbaland announced on this socials that his new song with Nelly and Justin, the name of which has yet to be revealed, is coming next week, on September 1.

Timbaland has also apparently been in the studio with Justin putting the finishing touches on his latest album, the follow-up to 2017's Man In The Woods, which divided critical opinion and debuted at Number 2 on the Official Albums Chart. The two artists have continued to collaborate since their heyday, with TImbaland helming Justin's 2013 Number 1 comeback album The 20/20 Experience, and that LP's biggest hit, the chart-topping ballad Mirrors.
Nelly, by comparison, hasn't worked with Timbaland officially on her own projects since Loose. She has popped up now and again on feature tracks, such as Give It To Me and the 2009 Top 10 hit Morning After Dark, but TImbaland wasn't involved in the making of her 2012 The Spirit Indestructible or 2017's lo-fi indie record The Ride.
This year, however, she's really put her foot to the floor. With a brand new comeback record apparently in the works, she recently jumped on Dom Dolla's Eat Your Man, which spliced together the hooks of several of her earlier, Timbaland-produced hits, like Promiscuous and Maneater.
