Thor: Ragnarok is generating super sales on this week's Official Video Chart

Four new entries are expected to hit this week's Top 5.

In a busy week for DVD releases, Thor: Ragnarok is leading the pack with Marvel-lous sales.

The superhero epic starring Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Cate Blanchett and Tom Hiddlestone has sold just shy of 200,000 DVD and Blu-ray units in just three days since its release on Monday, putting it in pole position on today Official Chart Update. A triple pack of all three Thor movies also charts today at Number 7.

Thor is outselling the rest of the Top 40 combined at this midweek stage, so is all but certain to lead the final Top 40 on Sunday, which will be confirmed at 7pm on OfficialCharts.com.

Looking at other movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to feature Thor, Ragnarok is set to eclipse the first week sales of the original Thor movie, which topped the Official Video Chart in 2011 with sales of 215,000. Thor: The Dark World also reached Number 1 in 2014, while Avengers Assemble and Avengers: Age of Ultron also hit the top spot.

Elsewhere in this week's Top 5, Saw spin-off Jigsaw is scaring away some of the competition at Number 2, ahead of The Death of Stalin which is new at Number 3, and Margot Robbie's Goodbye Christopher Robin at Number 4. Former Number 1 release Blade Runner 2049 rounds out the Top 5, down three to Number 5.

New entries and high climbers

Claire Foy and Andrew Garfield star in Breathe, the autobiographical drama telling the story of disability advocate Robin Cavendish, new at Number 9, and there are more new entries including Big Trouble in Little China, released on steelbook Blu-ray this week (14), and Series Seven of Death in Paradise lands at Number 16.

Navy SEAL drama Renegades occupies Number 22 in the midweek chart, one slot ahead of Agatha Christie's Crooked House (23). Finally, Vera: Series Eight is investigating the Number 29 position, and Night of the Living Dead is back in the Top 40 at Number 37 following its 4K release.
