Miley Cyrus is on course for her first ever UK Number 1 single this weekend with We Can’t Stop.
She played a fictional schoolgirl who lead a double life as a pop singer on the Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana, but now Miley Cyrus’ dreams of becoming a real life, global chart-topping mega star are about to come true!
Miley is set to debut at Number 1 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart this weekend with her latest track, We Can’t Stop. The Nashville 20 year-old, who is the daughter of household country name Billy Ray Cyrus and sister of Metro Station frontman Trace Cyrus, is set to end Avicii’s three week stand at Number 1 with Wake Me Up. We Can’t Stop is currently outselling the superstar Swedish DJ and producer’s track by nearly two copies to one, according to the Official Charts Company’s latest sales data.
Though Miley’s father and sibling have both managed to crack the Official Singles Chart Top 10, despite starring in Hannah Montana between 2006 and 2011, and releasing music as herself and under her on-screen alter ego, surprisingly We Can’t Stop will be Miley’s first UK Top 10 single. Her previous highest charting tracks – 2008’s See You Again, and 2009’s The Climb (which was a Number 1 for X Factor’s Joe McElderry) and the Jessie J-penned Party In The USA – each peaked at Number 11. Billy Ray of course scored a Number 3 hit in 1992 with Achy Breaky Heart, while Trace peaked at Number 6 in 2009 with Shake It.
