The Top 50 official best-selling vinyl albums of 2021 in Ireland revealed
Fleetwood Mac's Rumours was the best-selling vinyl album of 2021 in Ireland, the Official Charts Company can reveal.
The classic album tops our year-end Vinyl Top 50 chart, outpacing releases from modern-day acts such as Adele, Harry Styles and Dermot Kennedy.
This is actually the second year that Rumours was the Number 1 best-selling vinyl album in Ireland, last year it too reached Number 1 on the 2020 year-end chart.
In a Top 10 otherwise packed with collector classics, Adele's blockbuster comeback record 30 smashes its way to a Number 2 placing, while ABBA's long-awaited new studio album Voyage also earns a spot at Number 8.
Vinyl accounted for nearly one tenth of the Irish albums market in 2021 (9.8%) with 407,000 vinyl records sold, up from 309,000 in 2020 and 218,000 in 2019). Resurgence of the vinyl format has helped power standout growth of 35% in the overall value of Ireland’s albums market to €18.477m, up from €13.676m in 2020.

IRMA spokesperson, Willie Kavanagh comments: "The continued adoption and collectability of vinyl means the format now makes up one tenth of album consumption, and has played an important role in driving up the value of Ireland’s albums market by over a third this year.
"There’s never been more ways for Irish music fans to access their favourite music, and these robust market numbers for 2021 demonstrate the ability of both digital and physical formats to coexist and thrive.”
The best-selling vinyl albums by Irish acts came courtesy of Dermot Kennedy (Without Fear, Number 11), while the biggest Irish debut release of 2021 on vinyl was Inhaler's chart-topping It Won't Always Be Like This, landing in the year-end vinyl Top 20 at Number 18.
Several acts place numerous albums on wax in the Top 50; these include Fleetwood Mac with a further Top 10 entry for Greatest Hits at Number 6. Harry Styles places at Number 4 with Fine Line and Number 28 with his self-titled debut. A double placing for Nirvana also with Unplugged In New York (12) and Nevermind (17). Taylor Swift gains a total of three entries; Red (Taylor's Version) (14), Evermore (23) and Folklore (32).
Further down the chart, we also see new-release albums from Olivia Rodrigo (16), Little Mix (25), Billie Eilish (33) and Lana Del Rey (48) make an impact.
