The Irishmen, who held internet phenomenon Gangnam Style at bay in the Official Singles Chart this weekend, climbs to the top in its third week on the chart, knocking the Max Martin produced We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together and Sam & The Womp’s Bom Bom down to Number 2 and 3 respectively.
The Official Streaming Chart is compiled by the Official Charts Company on behalf of the British music industry, and has been running since May. It is the first chart which ranks audio streams from both ad-funded and subscription streaming services in the UK, which reflects the increasing interest in the new generation of music services such as Spotify, Deezer, Napster and We7.
Owl City /Carly Rae Jepsen swap places with former chart-topper Florence & The Machine as the sunshine-filled Good Time moves up to Number 4 to complete this week’s Official Streaming Chart Top 5.
New Entries and High Climbers
Unsurprisingly, of the seven newcomers this week K-Pop phenomenon Gangnam Style is the highest new entry at Number 23, while Amelia Lily’s You Bring Me Joy comes in at Number 46. David Guetta FT Sia with She Wolf (Falling To Pieces) is at Number 63, while new entries from The Killers (77), Alt-J (80), Conor Maynard (92) and Mumford & Sons (97) also make a chart impact.
Mumford & Sons are this week’s highest climber as new single I Will Wait moves a staggering 60 places to Number 31. The Killers’ Runaways jumps an impressive 41 places to Number 27, while Pink’s Blow Me (One Last Kiss) moves 14 places to Number 17 and Ne-Yo with Let Me Love You moves up twelve to Number 6.
