A 12-track album, for which the full tracklist is yet to be revealed, was recorded in various locations around the world, including Henson Recording Studios, Los Angeles; Metropolis Studios, London; Sanctuary Studios, Nassau, Bahamas; Electric Lady Studios, New York; and The Hit Factory/Germano Studios, also in New York.
The record also serves as The Rolling Stones' first collaborative project with New York-born producer and musician Andrew Watt. Watt was names Producer of the Year at 2021's GRAMMY Awards following his work with the likes of Elton John, Iggy Pop and Post Malone.

Prior to that, the band's last original collection was 2005's A Bigger Bang, which peaked at Number 2 upon its release.
To date as a group, The Rolling Stones boast UK Number 1 albums with eponymous debut The Rolling Stones (1964), The Rolling Stones No. 2 (1965), Aftermath (1966), Let it Bleed (1969), Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out - The Rolling Stones in Concert (1970), Sticky Fingers (1971), Exile on Main Street (1972), Goat's Head Soup (1973), Emotional Rescue (1980), Voodoo Lounge (1994) and Blue & Lonesome (2016).
