The Official Top 40 Compilation Albums of 2016 so far

Now over the halfway point of the year, OfficialCharts.com can exclusively reveal the 40 biggest selling compilation albums of 2016 so far.

Comps giant Now That’s What I Call Music have eight entries in the Top 40, the leading release being their latest hit-filled collection Now 93. Shifting 750,000 copies so far since its release in March, Now 93 is 2016’s biggest seller so far, not to mention the year's fastest seller too. Now 93 is by far the nation’s most popular compilation, outselling the rest of the Top 5 combined.

Other Now collections featured on the best sellers list include Now 92 (3), Party Anthems (11), Rock Ballads (22), Disney (24), The 80s (28), Classic Rock (34), Fitness (38) and Brit Hits (40).

Sing Your Heart Out 2016 is at Number 2 following a hugely successful marketing campaign featuring families and friends blasting their favourite feel-good anthems in their cars (combined chart sales of 210,000), and 2015’s Now 92 sits at 3 (132,000).

100% Clubland is the next six-figure shifter with sales of 129,000 to place at 4, and rounding out the Top 5 is The Country Album. Despite only hitting Number 3 on the Official Compilations Chart, the collection featuring hits from Kenny Rogers, Lady Antebellum, Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash has garnered combined sales of 123,000.

Other albums to have shifted in excess of 100,000 combined chart sales are Throwback – Slowjamz at Number 6 and Acoustic Café, which features acoustic renditions of hits from various artists such as Sia, Kodaline and Alicia Keys.

Only one original soundtrack features on the list which is Guardians of the Galaxy - Awesome Mix 1, a big vinyl seller stocked in various supermarkets.
