The Official Top 40 biggest vinyl albums and singles of 2019
Liam Gallagher tops the list of 2019's best-selling vinyl albums.
The Britpop legend's second solo album Why Me? Why Not leads the Top 40 most popular albums of last year on wax, achieving 30,000 sales on the revived format. The album, which reached Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart in September, achieved first week sales on vinyl of 17,000, making it the fastest-selling vinyl album of 2019 and the format's fastest-seller of the millennium by a solo artist.
In 2019, vinyl sales grew for the 12 consecutive year, rising 4.1% to 4.3 million units sold. Vinyl albums now account for one in every eight albums bought in the UK.

Billie Eilish's debut album When All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? lands in second with 29,000 sales. The album had a total of six vinyl variants available in the UK and made Billie the youngest ever female artist to top the Official Albums Chart.
With 28,800 sales, Fleetwood Mac's classic album Rumours charts at Number 3 on the year-end chart. The album was reissued alongside other key records in Fleetwood Mac's back catalogue, pressed on clear vinyl for the first time. The album returned to Number 1 on the Official Vinyl Albums Chart post-Christmas.
The UK's best-selling album of all-time Greatest Hits by Queen is at Number 4, spurred on by a first-time red vinyl release as part of hmv Vinyl Week 2019 and the success of the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. The Beatles' Abbey Road rounds out the Top 5 at Number 5 after being reissued for its 50th anniversary in 2019. Abbey Road returned to Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart, breaking a new record in the process.

Looking at more 2019 releases, Lewis Capaldi's Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent - the fastest-selling debut album of the year - finishes in sixth, Sam Fender's chart topper Hypersonic Missiles shoots to eleventh, Bruce Springsteen shines at 17 with Western Stars, The Who are at 18 with WHO, and Coldplay's Everyday Life, the biggest album of 2019 released by a group, is at 19.
Foals claim two entries with their Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost duo of albums: PT 1 occupies 22, and the chart-topping PT 2 is at 30. Harry Styles' Fine Line - the UK's Christmas Number 1 on the Official Vinyl Albums Chart - finished the year at Number 23, and 2019 Number 1s Lana Del Rey's Norman F**king Rockwell and Kylie Minogue's Step Back In Time land at 27 and 24 respectively.

Vinyl singles
Looking at vinyl singles, Wham!'s festive favourite Last Christmas ended 2019 as the best-selling 7" product. The Christmas classic which is the best-selling song of all time to never reach Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart, did reach the top of the Vinyl Singles Chart in 2019, spending two weeks at the top.

Liam Gallagher takes out two entries in the Top 10, with Shockwave at 2 and One Of Us at 9, while fellow 2019 release Gerry Cinnamon's Sun Queen/Canter rounds out the Top 10 at Number 10.
Popular reissues from the likes of New Order, David Bowie and Kate Bush feature in the Top 20, alongside modern releases from Idles, Pet Shop Boys and U2.
