The Official Top 40 Biggest Selling Compilation Albums Of 2013

Now That’s What I Call Music 86 sells over a million copies to top The Official Biggest Selling Compilation Albums Of 2013!

The hugely successful Now That’s What I Call Music series of compilations went from strength-to-strength in its 30th birthday year, finishing 2013 with six placings in The Official Biggest Selling Compilation Albums annual best sellers Top 10.

According to Official Charts Company sales data, Now That’s What I Call Music! 86, the latest instalment of the hugely popular franchise, has sold over 1.1 million copies since it was released at the end of November. It is not only the biggest selling compilation album of 2013, but also the biggest selling album over-all, beating the top selling artist album of 2013, One Direction’s Midnight Memories, by more than one-and-a-half copies to one.

The 44 track album includes massive Official Singles Chart Number 1s from the likes of Katy Perry (Roar), OneRepublic (Counting Stars), Jason Derulo (Talk Dirty FT 2 Chainz), Miley Cyrus (We Can't Stop), Ellie Gouding (Burn), Avicii (Wake Me Up), Lorde (Royals) and Lily Allen (Somewhere Only We Know), among others.

Now That’s What I Call Music! 86’s predecessor, Now 85, is at Number 2 in the year-end chart after racking up sales of over 933,000 copies since it was released in July. Now 85 includes four of 2013’s Top 5 biggest selling singles – Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke, Get Lucky by Daft Punk, Let Her Go by Passenger, and La La La by Naughty Boy.

Now 84, which was released in March 2013, finishes the year at Number 3 with 733,000 sales, while the festive compilation, Now That’s What I Call Christmas, is at Number 4 after selling 414,000 copies during 2013 (864,000 total).

Thanks largely to the success of the Now series, sales of compilation albums in the UK are up by 3.7% on 2012, according to the Official Charts Company’s end of year sales data published today by British recorded music trade body The BPI.

The Official Biggest Selling Compilation Albums Of 2013 Top 5 is completed by an album compiled by acclaimed BBC 1Xtra DJ Trevor Nelson - The Trevor Nelson Collection (Number 5 with 290,000 sales).
