The Official Top 40 best-selling vinyl albums and singles of 2020
Sales of vinyl records climbed for a 13th consecutive year in the UK in 2020, with new as well as classic albums enjoying success on the revived format.
As fans turned to music during a difficult year, sales of vinyl jumped by over a tenth (11.5%) year-on-year to almost 5 million (4.8m), music industry body the BPI reports.
Many also supported indepedendent record shops by purchasing locally, with hundreds offering online delivery as the UK comes in and out of lockdown. Last year Official Charts launched the Official Indie Record Store Finder, encouraging their customers to become virtual cratediggers.
We also teamed up with Record Store Day and National Album Day to launch The Record Club in association with Bowers & Wilkins - a livestream series that takes place every other Wednesday that encourages viewers to order the album of the guest act in each episode through their local record shop, give it a listen, then watch the broadcast to find out all about it. Recent guests include Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Paloma Faith, McFly, Doves and Declan McKenna.
The biggest vinyl album released in 2020 was Kylie Minogue's DISCO, with 21,500 sales on wax since its release in November. 13,500 of those were in its first week, when it debuted at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart, making Kylie the first female artist to score a UK Number 1 in five consecutive decades.

Topping the overall end-of-year vinyl album chart is Fleetwood Mac’s enduring classic Rumours. The record - released in 1977 - remains a popular choice on vinyl and regularly features in the weekly Official Vinyl Albums Chart Top 40. 32,500 copies of the album have been purchased on vinyl in the UK this year.
Meanwhile, other 2020 releases that finish inside the Top 10 best-sellers on vinyl this year include AC/DC's chart-topper Power Up (8), Arctic Monkeys' Live At The Royal Albert Hall (9), and Idles' Ultra Mono (10).
Further down, Liam Gallagher’s Number 1 live album MTV Unplugged just misses out on a Top 10 placing at Number 11. However, the Britpop legend claims the top selling vinyl single of the year with his charity release All You're Dreaming Of, with 11,600 copies sold. Money raised from the release goes to Action For Children.
Fontaines D.C. claim the 17th biggest vinyl album of 2020 with A Hero's Death, just ahead of Bruce Springsteen's October chart-topper Letter To You at 19, while Taylor Swift's Folklore lands at 22.

Elsewhere Rolling Stones' 2020 single Living In A Ghost Town - released on limited edition orange 10-inch vinyl in June - places third, while Billie Eilish's Number 1 James Bond theme No Time To Die rounds out the Top 5.

Fun city by bright light bright light, released mid September should be up there upon release otherwise the pop lovers will be missing out. Already ordered my super bundle direct from the artist but amazon and other places are selling the vinyl too.
