The Official Record Store Chart Top 40 Of 2013
David Bowie’s The Next Day was the most purchased album in the UK’s independent record shops during 2013, while Arctic Monkeys and Daft Punk also place in the Top 5.
David Bowie’s critically acclaimed twenty-fourth studio album, The Next Day, was the most purchased album in the UK’s independent record shops during the last twelve months, according to the Official Charts Company’s year-end sales data.
The Next Day, which was released during Bowie’s 66th birthday year, is Number 1 on The Official Record Store Chart Top 40 Of 2013. It placed at Number 23 on the overall Official Biggest Selling Albums Of 2013 Top 40.
Unlike the Official Albums Chart however, The Official Record Store Chart is only compiled exclusively from sales in independent record shops who participate in Record Store Day - the annual celebration of independent music retailers. It is published weekly in NME and Music Week, as well as on www.officialcharts.com.
Arctic Monkey’s fifth album, AM, finishes the year at Number 2 on The Official Record Store Chart Top 40 Of 2013, while Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories is at Number 3.
The Official Record Store Chart Of 2013 Top 5 is completed by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ Push The Sky Away (Number 4) and Queens Of The Stone Age’s Like Clockwork (5).
