The Murder Capital's debut album When I Have Fears challenging for Number 1 on the Official Irish Albums Chart
Can they fend off Ed Sheeran?
The Murder Capital have their sights set on Number 1 on this week's Official Irish Albums Chart with their debut album.
The Dublin five-piece are at the top of the latest midweek sales flash, just shy of 200 combined sales ahead of Ed Sheeran's No.6 Collaborations Project at Number 2.

The post-punk band have sold the most copies on CD and vinyl so far this week, where as their closest competition Ed leads on streaming. Last week's chart-toppers Slipknot - who reached the top by a narrow 12 combined sales - are currently at Number 5.
Should The Murder Capital score the Number 1, they'll be the fourth Homegrown act to top the Official Irish Albums Chart in 2019 following Picture This, Hozier and Mick Flannery.

This album is absolutely fantastic, from the very second I heard this album I thought "these guys are going to blow up real fast". the way they portray a deep sense of existential dread. or at the very least unease, throughout the entire album with an also present appreciation for the sweetness of life is a pairing that makes their form of post punk sound very mature, especially for a debut. I'm looking forward to seeing what these lads are going to produce in the future. Also props to the bassplayer for producing some of the most striking basslines i've heard in post-punk in a long time.
