The Lottery Winners ahead for second Number 1 album with KOKO

The Leigh four-piece topped the charts for the first time in 2023. Can they repeat the trick two years later?

The Lottery Winners KOKO Number 1 album midweek

The Lottery Winners could be heading for their second UK Number 1 album as KOKO (or Keep On Keeping On) leads the Official Chart Update.

The indie-pop four piece – comprising Thom Rylance, Robert Lally, Katie Lloyd and Joe Singleton – previously topped the Official Albums Chart for the first time in 2023 with their third record Anxiety Replacement Therapy. Prior to this, their first two LPs - 2020’s The Lottery Winners (23) and 2021’s Something To Leave The House For (11) - charted inside the Top 40.

Coming in at Number 2 midweek, it’s Scottish pop icons Deacon Blue with their 11th studio album The Great Western Road. It would become their seventh UK Top 10 album and, right now, little over 2,000 chart units separate them from The Lottery Winners, so there’s still all to play for.

Selena Gomez and benny blanco’s first collaborative album I Said I Loved You First is predicted to debut in the UK at Number 4, set to become Selena’s second Top 10 album, and benny blanco’s first.

Completing the Top 5 midweek, English rockers The Horrors approach their fourth Top 10 LP with Night Life (5); their first record together in eight years.

Further down, UK pop-rockers McFly could send their live album 21 Live straight in at Number 14. The special live album is a recorded performance of the lads’ 21st birthday gig at The O2, London, which took place last year.

Acclaimed indie-pop band Japanese Breakfast (led by Michelle Zauner) approach their first-ever UK Top 40 album with For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women), which could enter the Official Albums Chart at Number 21.

Finally, Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes’s Live At The Greek could land back in the Top 40 at a new peak of Number 37, following its 25th anniversary re-release. As a founding member of Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page notched up eight UK Number 1 albums.
