The 'last' Beatles track made with AI is "beautiful," says Ringo Starr
Ringo Starr has revealed some more information about the 'last' Beatles song to ever be released, which was created with the help of AI.
The existence of the song was first brought to public attention by Paul McCartney, who told BBC Radio 4 that it would be final 'new' song to be released featuring all four original Beatles, since the deaths of both John Lennon and George Harrison.
With the help AI, McCartney was apparently able to 'extract' Lennon's vocals from a previously unreleased demo, which is thought to be having an official release sometime later this year, with fans speculating it will be a well-known 1978 scrapped demo called Now And Then.
In an interview with Variety, Starr confirmed the existence of the song, while also trying to assuage any doubts Beatles fan may have about the creation of the track, telling the publication that whole thing has not been created AI, the tool has simply helped them to complete a song that would previously have been left unreleased.

"It’s not down to AI," he confirmed. "It’s not like we’re pretending anything. That is actually John’s voice, Paul’s voice and bass playing, George on rhythm guitar and me on drums."
Starr went on to say that the track is a "beautiful" song, and one that has actually nearly made its way into the world previously. In the interview, Starr also shared that he, McCartney and Harrison had actually previously tried to salvage the demo in 90s, but didn't have the correct technology to properly process the original lyrics, written by Lennon (although, as Beatles standard, the track will be credited to Lennon-McCartney).
"The two things that are new are Paul’s bass and me on drums… I really worked at it just months ago here. And it works," he said. "for all the madness going on around it, it’s still a beautiful track. And our last track."
Ai is one of the hot topics in music right now, and has proved to be incredibly divisive. One of the first proponents of using the technology to make new music has been Canadian alt-pop auteur Grimes, who has sanctioned the use of her voice in several tracks now credited to Grimes AI.
No official release date for The Beatles' last 'official' single has not been announced, with McCartney himself assuring fans plans will be revealed in due course.
