The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part II set to be longest reigning Number 1 DVD of 2016 so far
Move over James Bond, Katniss Everdeen is ruling the DVD and Blu-ray charts.
Today's Official Video Chart update reveals that The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part II is heading for a third non-consecutive week at the top spot, becoming the longest reigning Number 1 of 2016 so far. The likes of Spectre starring Daniel Craig and Tom Hardy's Legend have managed two weeks this year, but it is Jennifer Lawrence who looks to better them. Girl Power!
J Law's latest fantasy epic is the fourth biggest selling release of 2016 so far, and the biggest selling for a movie with a female lead. The film is also the first to return to the Number 1 spot since Inside Out some four months ago.
The fourth and final installment in the Hunger Games franchise completes a quartet of Number 1 positions for the franchise too.
New Entries and High Climbers
At Number 2 this week is Disney's The Good Dinosaur, followed by Bridge of Spies at 3. Victor Frankenstein is a new entry at 4, while Dame Maggie Smith's The Lady in the Van is hanging in the Top 5 for a sixth successive week (5).
Snow White and The Huntsman climbs 5 places to 17 following the cinematic release of its sequel, and two warrior-themed entries make their debut: A Warrior's Tail is brand new at 18, and Dragon Warriors is at 22.
Debuting at 27 is the first season of psychological thriller Mr. Robot with Peppa Pig - Around the World flying 25 places to 29, becoming this week's highest expected climber.
Two more new entries hope to keep their midweek Top 40 placing by Friday: Sinkhole lands at 31 and Bride of Re-Animator is at 38.
