The Classic BRIT Awards to return in 2018 featuring performances from Ball & Boe and Tokio Myers
The Classic BRIT Awards are returning to our screens for the first time in five years.
The 15th BRIT Awards sister ceremony celebrating the very best in modern classical music returns on Wednesday, June 13 at the Royal Albert Hall.
Hosted by Myleene Klass and Alexander Armstrong, the live broadcast, in conjunction with Classic FM, will commemorate the best music from the modern worlds of classical, TV, movies and games, while classic legends will also be honoured.
Hugely successful musical star/tenor duo Michael Ball & Alfie Boe are confirmed performers, a huge stage for the pair following recent years of phenomenal success. Following two sell-out UK arena tours, the pair will make their Classic BRITs mark for the first time as a group.
Ball & Boe have scored two UK Number 1 records on the Official Albums Chart since forming in 2016; their first album Together was certified double Platinum by the BPI and was the best-selling album of 2016 that was released in that same year.
The best-selling classical artist of all-time (and recent Ed Sheeran collaborator!) Andrea Bocelli will return to the Classic BRITs stage, as will Welsh tenor Sir Bryn Terfel. While the previous talents are renowned forces in the classical world, the Classic BRITs 2018 also welcomes Britain's Got Talent winner pianist Tokio Myers for the first time.
Dame Vera Lynn will also be commemorated at this year's ceremony. The Forces' Sweetheart, who celebrated her 101st birthday this week, will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award. Dame Vera is the only artist to score a Top 10 album as a centenarian.
Tickets for The Classic BRIT Awards 2018 go on sale Wednesday 21st March at 9.00am.
