The Civil Wars take on Britain’s Got Talent stars in albums race
Can The Civil Wars knock Richard and Adam off the top of the Official Albums Chart this weekend?
US folk-rock duo The Civil Wars take on Britain’s Got Talent finalists Richard and Adam Johnson as the talent show brothers lead the race to this week’s Number 1 album.
Richard and Adam, the brothers from Holywell, North Wales, knocked X Factor star Jahmene Douglas off the top of the Official Albums Chart on Sunday with their debut full-length, The Impossible Dream.
Grammy award-winning US duo The Civil Wars are set to score this week’s highest new entry with their eponymous second album. The Rick Rubin (Adele / Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Charlie Peacock (Amy Grant / Switchfoot)-produced album is new in on today’s Official Chart Update at Number 2, but trailing Richard and Adam by less than 4,000 copies. It is all still to play for!
Mike Rosenberg, AKA Passenger, holds firm at Number 3 with All The Little Lights, while Imagine Dragons’ Night Visions (up six places to Number 4) and Jahmene Douglas’ Love Never Fails (5) complete the Top 5.
New Entries
In addition to The Civil Wars (Number 2), there are three other new entries on today’s Official Albums Chart Update.
West Midlands-based indie rockers Swim Deep are set to make their Top 10 debut on Sunday with Where The Heaven Are We (6), while Asking Alexandria are on course for their highest charting UK album to date with their third studio album, From Death To Destiny (15). The York metallers found fame overseas after relocating to the US in 2009. Their 2011 second album, Reckless & Relentless, went Top 10 on America’s Billboard 200 albums chart.
And finally, Example’s Best Of collection, #Hits, is new in today at Number 16. The 16-track album includes the London rapper’s chart-topping singles Changed The Way You Kissed Me and Stay Awake.
