Tenacious D set to ‘Rize’ to the top of the Official Albums Chart
The full Official Albums Chart Update Top 40 is as follows:
According to today’s Official Chart Update, Tenacious D look set to knock Keane off the top of the Official Albums Chart this Sunday.
Jack Black and Kyle Gass’ latest album, Rize Of The Fenix, has taken an early lead over last week’s Number 1, Strangeland, which has fallen into second place. If Tenacious D manage to maintain their lead, it will give the comedy duo their highest charting album to date and first UK Number 1.
However, the news won’t come as a surprise to Black who, earlier this week, claimed that his band will eclipse former chart toppers Jack White, Foo Fighters and Gotye.
"I do love Jack White, I love the Foo Fighters, and Goyte, but our album is better than all of those,” the actor told Reuters. "In a hundred years' time, no-one will remember Gotye or the rest, but the shining beacon of The D - they're going to start religions after us!"
Salford-born singer/songwriter Ren Harvieu is poised to debut on the Official Albums Chart at Number 3 with her first album, Through The Night, while Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events slides two places to Number 4. Garbage complete this week’s Official Update Top 5 with their long awaited new studio album, Not Your Kind Of People, looking set to score the recently reformed Scottish / American rockers their fifth Top 10 album.
New releases
In addition to Tenacious D (1), Ren Harvieu (3) and Garbage (5), there are six other new entries in this week’s Official Albums Chart Update. Self-styled ‘dream pop’ duo Beach House are on course for their first Top 40 album with Bloom on course to chart at Number 7. The cast of hit US TV show Glee are new in at Number 15 with The Graduation Album, which features covers of tracks by Lady Gaga, Queen, Fun and Green Day among others.
Former A-Ha lead singer Morten Harket is on course for his third solo Top 40 album with Out Of My Hands, Engelbert Humperdinck’s latest Greatest Hits compilation, Release Me - The Best Of, is at Number 25, and Gossip are new in at Number 35 with A Joyful Noise. And finally Santana, the band fronted by guitar virtuoso Carlos Santana, are set to score their eighteenth Top 40 album with Shape Shifter (36).
