Taylor Swift is dancing through the lightning strikes en route to her sixth UK Number 1 single with Opalite. The second single from record-setting album The Life of a Showgirl tops the Official Chart: First Look following the release of its star-studded music video and 7” vinyl. Opalite originally peaked at Number 2 last October.

The MV – which premiered exclusively on Spotify and Apple Music on Friday (February 6th), ahead of a wider release on YouTube today (February 8th) – features Taylor’s fellow couchmates from an October episode of The Graham Norton Show, including the host himself, Domhnall Gleeson, Lewis Capaldi and Jodie Turner-Smith.

Should Opalite hold on, it will mark the first time any of Taylor Swift’s albums have produced two UK Number 1 singles. The Life of a Showgirl’s lead single The Fate of Ophelia spent seven non-consecutive weeks atop the Official Chart in 2025.

Rein Me In by Sam Fender & Olivia Dean is tracking towards a new peak of Number 4, while Zara Larsson’s viral hit Lush Life could ascend to Number 5, its highest placement since 2016.

Sombr could claim this week’s highest new entry with Homewrecker (11), which would mark the US rising star’s fifth UK Top 40 hit.

Fresh from dominating the GRAMMYs and ahead of his Superbowl half time show, Bad Bunny’s DTMF is on course to climb 29 places to Number 14; the track previously peaked at Number 26 last January.

Myles Smith & Niall Horan’s new team-up Drive Safe is eyeing a Top 20 debut (20), while J.Cole has a trio of midweek entries following the release of his new album The Fall-Off: Two Six (23); Safety (27); Poor Thang (32).

There could be further Top 40 debuts this week for Calvin Harris & Kasabian’s Release The Pressure (24), Shakira’s Zootropolis 2 track Zoo (35), and Zayn’s Die For Me, the lead single from his upcoming fifth album Konnakol (39).

She's so over exposed the past 10 years but in Taylor's case no problem.

No offense but her music is just so average, mother's & father's approved and save for all the little children.

How long will  Taylor Swift continue to pose as a little girl herself....

Sorry

Agree that she’s overexposed. Has been for years but she has a cultish fanbase who live for it.

I’d argue that she’s more a business than an artist now too.

Well, that’s a shame.

Getting her first 2 numbers 1 off an album on one of her worst albums, sigh

I'm surprised that 'Opalite' is getting this much of a boost because of the single announcement and music video.

Hopefully 'Homewrecker' can climb into the Top 10 on Friday and I think 'DTMF' has a good chance of getting there after the Super Bowl tonight.
