Taylor Swift bats off heavy competition from Oasis and Jung Kook for a second consecutive week at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart with 1989 (Taylor’s Version).

Oasis’s The Masterplan re-enters the chart at Number 2 following a 25th anniversary remaster, matching its initial peak upon release in 1998. Overall, it’s the most physically purchased collection of the week in the UK, also peaking at Number 1 on the Official Vinyl Albums Chart and the Official Record Store Chart, making it the most popular LP in Britain’s independent record stores. 

BTS superstar Jung Kook scores this week’s highest new entry with his debut solo album Golden at Number 3. Trailed by the Top 10 singles Seven with Latto, 3D with Jack Harlow and this week’s Standing Next To You, Golden becomes the highest-peaking album from both a member of BTS and overall for a Korean soloist.

British music icon Cliff Richard claims his 48th career Top 10 album in the UK with Cliff With Strings – My Kinda Life (5), while Johnny Marr’s Spirit Power: The Best Of Johnny Marr gives the former Smiths member his fifth solo Top 10 record (7). 

Gregory Porter brings the Yuletide back into the Official Albums Chart with Christmas Wish debuting at Number 14, the US vocalist’s sixth Top 20 album in the UK.  

Following the release of their ‘last’ song Now and Then, The Beatles’ greatest hits collection 1 rockets 40 places to Number 21. Noah Kahan’s Stick Season continues to rise back up the Top 40, up 16 places (22), closely followed by alt-pop auteur Caroline Polachek’s acclaimed second album Desire I Want To Turn Into You (23) becomes her first ever UK Top 40 album following its physical release. 

Further down, Lana Del Rey’s Lust For Life is back in the Top 40 (31) following the release of a new coke bottle clear vinyl edition, and George Michael’s Twenty Five also returns to the Top 40 (35). 

Finally, Irish legend Van Morrison’s Accentuate The Positive is the final new entry of the week at Number 39, marking Van’s 44th (!) Top 40 album in a career spanning nearly 60 years.
