Tame Impala challenging Years & Years for Number 1 album
Years & Years are facing strong competition from Tame Impala on this week’s Official Albums Chart.
While dance trio Years & Years currently hold the lead with their debut album Communion on today’s Official Chart Update, Tame Impala’s new record Currents is behind them by just 2,000 combined sales.
The Aussie rockers’ third album looks set to be their highest-charting in the UK yet after 2012’s Lonerism, which peaked at Number 14.
Elsewhere in today’s Top 5, Ed Sheeran’s X drops a place to 3, James Bay’s Chaos and the Calm is at 4, and Sam Smith’s In The Lonely Hour is at 5.
New entries and high climbers
Nick Jonas is currently inside the Top 10 at Number 8 with his new self-titled album, and US singer-songwriter Jason Isbell is almost certain to crack the UK Top 40 for the first time this week with his fifth album Something More Than Free (Number 10).
Meanwhile, former X Factor finalist Andrea Faustini is currently just outside today’s Top 10 at Number 11 with his debut album Kelly.
Further down the tally, Rod Stewart’s 2008 album Some Guys Have All The Luck leaps from 49 to 20, and Will Young’s 85% Proof rebounds 21 places to 39.
