Taken 2 tops the Official Video Chart

This time he knows who they are, and what they want, and he uses his particular set of skills to top the Official Video Chart for a second time with Taken sequel, Taken 2.

Liam Neeson brings Bryan Mills out of retirement once more to claim the Number 1 slot on the Official Video Chart with Taken 2.

The small screen release of writer / producer Luc Besson’s 2008 thriller – which also stars Maggie Grace, Famke Janssen and Rade Serbedzija – has relegated Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s sci-fi action flick Looper into third place after just one week on top.

Taken 2 has also claimed pole position on the Official DVD Chart and Official Blu-ray Chart, and with sales of 278,000, it has also become both the fastest and biggest selling video title of 2013 so far.

Golden Globe-nominated animated film Hotel Transylvania (featuring the voices of Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, Steve Buscemi and Cee Lo Green, among others) is new in at Number 2, while Resident Evil: Retribution is down two places to Number 4.

Tom Stoppard and Joe Wright’s adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's novel Anna Karenina (which stars Keira Knightley and Jude Law) completes the Top 5, debuting at Number 5.

New entries

In addition to Taken 2 (Number 1), Hotel Transylvania (2) and Anna Karenina (5), there are three other new entries on this week’s Official Video Chart Top 40.

The double pack of Taken and Taken 2 enters at Number 11, while Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano’s multi award winning French comedy-drama Untouchable is new in at Number 20.

The latest instalment of the Death Race film series, Death Race - Inferno, completes this week’s Official Video Chart new entries at Number 21.

Mrs Brown’s Boys Series 2 returns to Number 1 on the Official TV On Video Chart, while the 25th anniversary Les Miserables concert continues its run at Number 1 on the Official Music Video Chart.
