Take That announce new album and tour as they share comeback single Windows
The band's ninth studio album This Life will arrive in November, followed by an epic 2024 UK and Ireland tour
Take That have announced their first studio album in six years and an enormous 2024 UK and Ireland tour.
The enduringly popular man-band – Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen – will release their ninth studio album This Life on November 24.
To accompany the announcement, the trio have shared lead single, Windows, a shimmering, string-drenched midtempo track with a slightly retro, psychedelic feel. It's the group's first new song since Out of Your Heads in 2018.
Take That debuted Windows on Zoe Ball's BBC Radio 2 breakfast show this morning and took the opportunity to share a few details about This Life, their follow-up to 2017 album Wonderland.
"We made most of the album in Savannah in Georgia, so it had that [American] South sort of influence to it," Gary said. "And it’s strange how an environment actually comes out in the music as well."
Gary also said the group "really went for the [vocal] harmonies on this record," an approach that certainly comes through on Windows. Other recording sessions for the album took place in Nashville and New York City. "It's hopeful and there’s a lot of light I think in this music," Gary added. "We're very excited for our audience to hear it – always."
Take That will be looking to add to their impressive Official Charts record, which includes 12 Number 1s on the Official Singles Chart – enough to put them high on the all-time list. Their most recent chart-topping single came with These Days in 2014.
They have also racked up eight Number 1s on the Official Albums Chart with Everything Changes (1993), Nobody Else (1995), Greatest Hits (1996), Beautiful World (2006), The Circus (2008), Progress (2010), III (2014) and Odyssey (2018).
