Things have been pretty quiet in Spiceworld of late. While Emma Bunton and Melanie B have been filming a top secret TV project together in South Korea, we haven't had any proper Spice Girls news in ages.
But now, as the band look ahead to debut single Wannabe's 30th anniversary next year, Melanie C's teased some big plans to mark the occasion; hinting that a 'world tour' could be on the cards.
Chatting on The Jimmy & Nath Show with Emma on Australia's 2Day FM, Melanie explained she, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Victoria Beckham, Emma and Mel B want to do 'something special' to commemorate 30 years of their iconic debut single.
She said: "It’s 30 years next year since the release of Wannabe. We have to do something special.
"Obviously I can’t say too much but we are talking about things. Hopefully a nice little world tour!"
This comes after Mel recently told Rebecca Judd of the girls' plans on Apple Music 1, saying: "There has to be something befitting of 30 years since Wannabe.
"Once a Spice Girl, always a Spice Girl. We all feel like that, but we now are getting together because we know if we’re going to do anything, we have to start planning things to get things right.
"We have to start making the plans right now and putting them into action. So fingers crossed."
Wannabe was released in July 1996, spending seven consecutive weeks atop the Official Singles Chart. It's so far shifted a total of 2.74 million chart units in the UK, and earned a place on the list of most-streamed songs from the 1970s, '80s and '90s.
The Spice Girls last performed together as a five-piece at the 2012 Olympic Games closing ceremony, before Geri, Emma, Mel C and Mel B embarked on their four-piece Spice World 2019 stadium tour of the UK and Ireland.
Well, things are sounding positive. Hai! Si! Ja! Hold tight!
