Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Murder on the Dancefloor enters US Billboard Hot 100 due to Saltburn effect
After surging into the Top 10 of the Official Singles Chart with Murder on the Dancefloor last week, re-entering at Number 8 following the song's inclusion in the Saltburn film, Sophie Ellis-Bextor's now scored a huge US chart milestone with the track.
Gaining virality thanks to that Barry Keoghan scene in Emerald Fennell's Saltburn, the song, which originally peaked at Number 2 in the UK on its release in 2001, has entered the US Billboard Hot 100 for the first time ever this week.
Making its Billboard Hot 100 debut at Number 98, Murder on the Dancefloor becomes Sophie's first-ever appearance on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, 22 years after the song's original release.

Originally released in 2001 as the second track from Sophie's Read My Lips album, Murder on the Dancefloor peaked at Number 2 in the UK and has spent 14 weeks inside the Top 40 to date.

This week, Murder on the Dancefloor is predicted to climb the Official Singles Chart once more. Looking to lift from last week's position of Number 8, the track is currently expected to land at Number 3, currently less than 750 UK chart units behind Jack Harlow's Lovin On Me at Number 2 in today's sales update.
Could Sophie have her sights set on a re-peak here in the UK, or even a future Number 1? This week's Official Singles Chart will be announced live on BBC Radio 1's The Official Chart from 4pm this Friday January 12 and, of course, here at OfficialCharts.com.
