Director Rupert Sanders’ reimagining of the fairy tale classic, which stars Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth and Sam Claflin, has gone straight in at Number 1 on the Official Video Chart. The Official Video Chart is compiled for the video industry by the Official Charts Company, incorporating UK sales of all physical video formats, including DVD, Blu-Ray and VHS.
Shrek's Thrilling Tales, which features a series of Halloween shorts from DreamWorks Animation's Shrek and Monsters Vs. Aliens franchises, is new in at Number 2, while Marvel's Avengers Assemble, which is the second biggest selling DVD and Blu-ray title of 2012 so far behind Twilight’s Breaking Dawn Part 1, is down two places to Number 3. The Dictator and Taken complete this week’s Top 5 and Number 4 and Number 5, respectively.
New Entries
In addition to Snow White And The Huntsman (Number 1) and Shrek's Thrilling Tales (Number 2), there are ten other new entries on this week’s Official Video Chart.
Nicholas McCarthy’s award winning horror film, The Pact, debuts at Number 8, while Spartacus: Vengeance, the second season of Starz new Spartacus TV series, is new in at Number 14. Season 7 of Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz’ crime drama, Bones, enters at Number 17, season 4 of Breaking Bad debuts at Number 30, and Christian Bale and Helen Mirren’s Thrones And Empires enters at Number 32.
Classic Doctor Who adventure The Ambassadors Of Death (Number 33), the Blu-ray edition of The Terminator (35), the party pack edition of Shrek's Thrilling Tales (36), Season 3 of Modern Family and The Hollow Crown (40) complete this week’s new entries.
