Snow Patrol earn first Number 1 album in 18 years with The Forest Is The Path

Their return has been well worth the wait.

Snow Patrol

Congratulations to Snow Patrol, who earn their second Number 1 album with The Forest Is The Path, 18 years after their first.

The eighth studio album from the Northern Irish-Scottish band – comprised of Gary Lightbody, Johnny McDaid and Nathan Connolly – flies ahead of the week’s competition to debut at Number 1, becoming their first chart-topper since 2006’s Eyes Open.

Six more of their collections have reached the Top 3; 2003’s Final Straw (3), 2008 LP A Hundred Million Suns (2), 2009 compilation Up To Now (3), 2011’s Fallen Empires (3), 2018’s Wildness (2) and 2019 release Reworked (3).

Catch Snow Patrol on The Record Club with Bowers & Wilkins next Wednesday, 25 September to hear Lightbody discuss the making of and inspirations behind the album.

Celebrating their success, Snow Patrol exclusively told Official Charts:

“We are absolutely over the moon, it’s our first Number 1 album in 18 years and we’re overjoyed! Thank you so much to everybody who bought it and streamed it, and everybody that helped us make it, and everybody that’s helped us over these last 30 years”

Meanwhile, London Grammar land at Number 3 with their fourth studio album The Greatest Love. They’ve previously enjoyed Official Albums Chart success with 2013 debut If You Wait (2), 2017’s Truth Is A Beautiful Thing (1) and 2021’s Californian Soil (1). The Greatest Love claims Number 1 on this week’s Official Vinyl Albums Chart

Eminem’s chart-topping The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace) rockets back into the Top 5 (5) following the release of an Expanded Mourner’s Edition.

Charli xcx’s BRAT rebounds back into the Top 10, up six places to Number 8.

Further down, Catfish & The Bottlemen see their debut album The Balcony return to the Top 40 (25) as they celebrate 10 years of the album’s release with a special reissue.

Finally, Amy Winehouse’s groundbreaking 2006 album Back To Black soars 57 places to Number 31 following what would have been her 41st birthday last weekend (14 September).
