Simon Cowell is planning a charity single that will benefit the families affected by the Grenfell Tower fire in West London.

The X Factor creator and Britain's Got Talent star described the blaze as "heartbreaking" on his Twitter account, pledging to release a benefit song that will see proceeds go to those who have either lost their homes or loved ones in the disaster.

Simon has a whole host of acts on his Syco record label roster, and has rubbed shoulders with a variety of the biggest names in music over the years, so the possibilities are endless as to who could appear on this upcoming charity release.

Grenfell Tower, a residential block on Latimer Road in London, has dominated the headlines over the last few days following a fire that broke out, destroying much of the building. 17 people have been confirmed dead, while many, many others remain unaccounted for.

More details about the track's release are expected today (June 16).
