Sigma score debut Number 1 single with Nobody To Love
Dance duo Sigma have gone straight in at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart with Nobody To Love.
Congratulations to Joe Lenzie and Cameron Edwards, AKA Sigma, who have gone straight in at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart today with Nobody To Love.
With sales of over 121,000 copies, the London-based dance duo have pipped Last Night boy band The Vamps (Number 2) to the post to score the third biggest selling single of 2014 with their re-titled drum ‘n’ bass re-working of Kanye West’s Bound 2.
“We’re over the moon,” Joe Lenzie tells OfficialCharts.com. “We just wanna thank everybody for going out and buying Nobody To Love; we’re completely overwhelmed by all the support.”
“It’s nice seeing music that’s not got massive backing making it into the charts these days,” adds Cameron Edwards. “People keep saying to us that drum ‘n’ bass is kinda dying, but, if you look at the last couple of years, you’ve got people like Wilkinson, Chase And Status and Sub Focus all breaching the charts with drum ‘n’ bass tracks. And I think the fact that this track has got to Number 1 above a commercial pop band says it all really.”

Joe and Cameron, who met eight years ago while studying at Leeds University, released their initial mix of Nobody To Love as a free download back in January. It quickly gained support from the likes of BBC Radio 1 and 1 Xtra, and they decided to head back into the studio to re-record it as a proper single. Nobody To Love finishes the week a whole 55 places ahead of where Kanye West’s original version peaked back in September of last year.
Last week’s chart topper, The Man by Aloe Blacc, falls two places to Number 3 today, while John Legend’s All Of Me (4) is also down two places. Iggy Azalea completes today’s Top 5 with Fancy FT Charli XCX (5). The track is the Australian rapper’s highest charting UK single to date, besting last October’s Change Your Life, which peaked at Number 10.
New Entires And High Climbers
The Saturdays might be gearing up to release their Greatest Hits album in September, but if the title of their new single is anything to go by, the Anglo-Irish girl group are Not Giving Up anytime soon. The track, which is the fifth and final single from last year’s Living For The Weekend album, is new in at Number 19 today, and becomes The Saturdays’ 17th UK Top 40 hit.
David Guetta and Showtek’s new collaboration, Bad FT Vassy, debuts at Number 22 on this week’s Official Singles Chart, while Kaiser Chiefs’ latest single, Coming Home, climbs 14 places to make its Top 40 debut at 31 today.
And finally, Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell’s For The First Time In Forever – which is taken from the soundtrack to Disney’s Frozen – is up 18 places to 38, and Paolo Nutini’s Better Man surges 31 places to Number 40.
