Shaboozey makes US chart history as A Bar Song (Tipsy) hits Number 1

Boozey will be looking to also top the UK Singles Chart this week.

Someone pour him a double shot of whiskey, he deserves it! Shaboozey has made history in America, as his breakthrough single A Bar Song (Tipsy) becomes his first Number 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100.

It's been a long time coming for the rising star, real name Collins Obinna Chibueze, who first released the energetic country track in April of this year.

With this achievement, Shaboozey enters the chart history books in the US - becoming the first Black Male artist to concurrently top both the main Billboard Hot 100 chart, and the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

He is the second black artist ever to achieve this feat, following in Beyoncé's footsteps with TEXAS HOLD 'EM (which also topped the Official Singles Chart for five weeks this year).

Boozey's connection to Bey is also intrinsic to his rise to Number 1 - having been featured on two tracks on COWBOY CARTER, Spaghetti with Linda Martell and Sweet Honey Buckiin'.

Of course, all eyes will now be on Shaboozey in the Official Singles Chart, where A Bar Song (Tipsy) has so far managed to peak at Number 3, failing to climb higher thanks to the domination of Sabrina Carpenter's duo of monster hits, Please Please Please and Espresso.

As for what could be next, Shaboozey said in an interview with Official Charts earlier this year that he'd recently met with Lana Del Rey. Given that Lana's own country record, Lasso, is rumoured to be dropping later this year...this could be perfect timing for a second, follow-up hit.
