Sebastian Ingrosso, Tommy Trash & John Martin take on Lawson for highest new entry
The superstar DJs’ Reload squares up to the British boyband’s Heartbroken in the race to secure the week’s highest new entry.
The superstar DJs’ Reload squares up to the British boyband’s Brokenhearted in the race to secure the week’s highest new entry.
While Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines (1) and John Newman’s Love Me Again (2) vie for the top spot, today’s Official Chart Update shows there’s a hotly contested battle to be the biggest new entry on the Official Singles Chart between two monster collaborations.
Sebastian Ingrosso, one-third of electronic superstars Swedish House Mafia, has teamed up with Australian rising star Tommy Trash and long-time collaborator John Martin on dance anthem Reload, which looks set to make a Top 5 debut on the Official Singles Chart at Number 3. Sebastian Ingrosso and John Martin’s last Top 40 collaboration went all the way when Swedish House Mafia scored the Number 1 smash Don’t You Worry Child, featuring Martin’s unmistakably huge vocals in October 2012.
Coming up behind is guitar-pop boyband Lawson, looking for their fourth Top 10 hit with Brokenhearted, which features American hip hop star B.o.B. They currently sit at Number 4, but with fewer than 1,000 copies between them and Ingrosso, Trash and Martin at this midweek stage, anything could happen before Sunday’s final klaxon.
Tune into the Official Chart Show with Jameela Jamil on BBC Radio 1 from 4pm on Sunday, or log on to www.OfficialCharts.com from 7pm to find out who claims the week’s biggest new entry honour.
Completing the Official Chart Update Top 5 is former chart topper Icona Pop FT Charli XCX with I Love It (5).
New Entries and High Climbers
Apart from Sebastian Ingrosso, Tommy Trash & John Martin and Lawson’s new entries at 3 and 4 respectively, Aussie rapper Iggy Azalea looks set for a personal best as new single Bounce is on track to enter at Number 11. Her debut solo single Work peaked at Number 17 earlier this year. Can she break the Top 10 when Sunday’s chart is announced?
South London singer Katy B returns to the Top 40 after a two-year absence. What Love Is Made Of is new in at Number 20, her fifth Top 40 hit.
Further down the chart, London grime act Sneakbo looks set to score his third top 40 single – his second as a solo artist – as Ring A Ling is a new entry at Number 24. Sneakbo’s biggest hit so far is Oliver Twist, his collaboration with DJ Banj and Skepta which reached Number 9 in May 2012.
Jay-Z’s domination of the Official Albums Chart Update with Magna Carta Holy Grail sends ripples through the Official Singles Chart, too. The album’s opener, Holy Grail, which features Justin Timberlake, is a new entry at Number 27, the highest of seven appearances by Jay-Z in the Top 200 at this midweek stage.
Biggest climber of the week is Pink’s collaboration with Lily Allen, True Love, which rockets 20 places to see it break into the Top 40 at Number 39. If the track manages to maintain or improve on this chart position come Sunday, it will be Pink’s 26th Top 40 hit as lead artist – a haul which includes two Number 1s, Just Like A Pill and So What. It will be Lily’s fourth Top 40 entry as a featured artist – she’s managed eight Top 40 hits all by herself, including two Number 1s, Smile and The Fear.
