Rudimental take on Will.I.Am and Justin Bieber in Number 1 single race

London’s quartet Rudimental take on international megastars Will.I.Am and Justin Bieber in the battle for this week’s Official Number 1 single.

East London drum ‘n’ bass collective Rudimental are going head-to-head with global megastars Will.I.Am and Justin Bieber in the race to this week’s Official Singles Chart Number 1.

According to the latest Official Charts Company sales data, Rudimental‘s new single, Waiting All Night FT Ella Eyre, is currently outselling Will.I.Am’s #ThatPower FT Justin Bieber (Number 2) by nearly 28,000 copies at this midway stage.

Rudimental shot to fame last May when their track Feel The Love FT John Newman debuted at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart and arguably became the anthem of summer 2012. The quartet are set to release their debut album, Home (which also features their Top 20 hit Not Giving In FT John Newman and Alex Clare), at the end of this month.

Reigning chart topper, Duke Dumont’s Need U (100%) FT A*M*E, falls two places to Number 3, while P!nk’s Just Give Me A Reason FT Nate Ruess (4) and Pitbull’s Feel This Moment FT Christina Aguilera complete today’s Official Chart Update Top 5.

New entries, re-entries and high climbers

In addition to Rudimental’s FT Ella Eyre (Number 1) and Will.I.Am FT Justin Bieber (2), there are three other new entries and two re-entries on today’s Official Chart Update Top 40.

K-pop hero Psy leaps a massive 53 places to enter the Top 10 with Gentleman (8). The follow-up to his worldwide smash and former UK Number 1, Gangnam Style, made its chart debut at 61 on Sunday after being on sale for less than 48 hours. At the time of writing, the accompanying video has clocked up a massive 117.5 million views on YouTube since it was uploaded on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, eclectic London outfit Clean Bandit are on course to score their first Top 40 hit this weekend with Mozart's House (12) while UK trance DJ and producer Mat Zo and his US counterpart Porter Robinson are new in at Number 27 today with Easy.

Emeli Sande’s Read All About It Part 3 is this week’s highest climber. The track is up a massive 79 places to Number 17 after Hungarian shadow theatre troupe, Attraction, performed their routine to it on Britain’s Got Talent on Saturday.

R Kelly’s Ignition (Remix), is also on course to re-enter the Top 40 this weekend, after footage of the US R&B star performing the track with French band Phoenix at last weekend’s Coachella Festival went viral. Ignition (Remix), which peaked at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart in 2003, is at Number 39 on today’s Update.

And finally, Little Mix look set to score their fifth Top 40 hit this weekend. The 2011 X Factorwinner’s new single, How Ya Doin’? FT Missy Elliott, is new in at Number 40. The album version of the track, which does not feature Elliott, debuted at Number 57 this past Sunday.
