Royal Blood continue to lead the charge with debut album

Royal Blood are on course for a second week at the top of the Official Albums Chart with their self-titled debut.

The Brighton duo – who scored the fastest-selling rock debut in three years last week - are currently leading the charge on today's Official Chart Update and are fighting off competition from Ed Sheeran’s X, which holds at Number 2, while Sam Smith’s In The Lonely Hour is just 600 copies behind at Number 3.

Meanwhile, Maroon 5’s V is new in at Number 4 on today’s Update. The band’s fifth studio album includes their latest single Maps, which entered last week’s singles chart at Number 2 and earned them their seventh UK Top 10 hit.

At Number 5 are LA sibling duo The Pierces with their fifth LP Creation. The album follows 2011’s You & I, which peaked at Number 4 on the chart.

New entries

Cambridge rockers Lonely The Brave enter at Number 11 with their debut album The Day’s War, and Prince’s Purple Rain soundtrack re-enters at Number 14. The record, which was originally released in 1984, peaked at Number 2 on the Official Albums Chart.

The late US blues singer Johnny Winter is set to score his first UK Top 40 album with his 19th studio LP Step Back at Number 25, and Leeds rockers Pulled Apart By Horses are on course for their highest-charting album to date, currently at 27 with their third album Blood.
