Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines set for second week at chart summit

Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines, featuring TI and Pharrell Williams, which last week became the fastest-selling single of the year, looks set for a second week on top of the Official Singles Chart.

Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines, featuring TI and Pharrell Williams, which last week became the fastest-selling single of the year, looks set for a second week on top of the Official Singles Chart.

According to today’s Official Chart Update, Blurred Lines shows no signs of retreat and is outselling its closest competitor Naughty Boy FT Sam Smith’s La La La, by nearly two to one, it has sold a staggering 260,000 copies to date.

Upon reaching Number 1 last weekend, Thicke told OfficialCharts.com:

“It is an honour and a pleasure to be Number 1 in the UK. It’s something I’ve always dreamed of, and I am so grateful to all the people who made this dream come true. Thank you!”

Carry On, the debut single from X Factor boy band Union J is currently at Number 3, closely followed by Daft Punk & Pharell’s inescapable Get Lucky at Number 4. Fuse ODG, with a little help from Wyclef Jean, looks set to enter the Official Singles Chart Top 5 with Antenna (4), though it faces tough competition from Passenger who is heading for his sixth consecutive week in the Top 10 with Let Her Go.

New Entries

Afrojack and Chris Brown are at Number 17 in this week’s Official Chart Update with As Your Friend, while Love Like This, the new single from Irish rockers Kodaline is at Number 19.

Goo Goo Dolls look set to re-enter the Official Singles Chart Top 40 with their 1998 hit Iris, following the song’s appearance on The Voice last weekend. Iris rockets up 45 places to Number 27 this week.

Bruno Mars also climbs northbound, with Treasure, the latest single taken from chart-topping album Unorthodox Jukebox, moves up 14 places to Number 21.
