Robbie Williams set to knock Lady Gaga off Number 1

Swings Both Ways on track to become the UK's 1,000th Number 1 album with Robbie to equal Elvis Presley's chart record!

Robbie Williams looks set to knock Lady Gaga’s ARTPOP from the top of the Official Albums Chart this weekend with Swings Both Ways. If successful, it will secure the Take That star the UK’s 1000th Official Number 1 album!

After performing some of the tracks from Swings Both Ways with Miss Piggy and Lily Allen at his London Palladium show earlier this month, Robbie’s follow-up to his 2001 swing album Swing When You’re Winning will also become his 11th solo album to reach the top spot, and will equal chart legend Elvis Presley’s tally of UK Number 1 albums. According to the Official Chart Company’s latest sales data, Swings Both Ways is currently outselling Jake Bugg’s Shangri La (Number 2) by three copies to one.

Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 is down one place to Number 3, while JLS’ Goodbye – The Greatest Hits is new in at Number 4. The album features all 12 of the X Factor alumni’s six years of back-flipping through the Official Singles Chart. Celine Dion’s Loved Me Back To Life completes today’s Official Albums Chart Update Top 5.

New Entries

Gareth Malone’s latest choir have debuted at Number 21 today with Voices, while American Idol’s Chris Daughtry has entered at Number 24 with Baptized, by his band Daughtry.

Five Finger Death Punch debut at 28 with The Right Side Of Heaven/The Righteous Side Of Hell Vol. 2, while Gabrielle is at Number 37 with Now And Always – 20 Years Of Dreaming, celebrating twenty years since her debut Find Your Way in 1993. Included on the album is a re-working of Gabrielle’s iconic track Dreams by none other than man-of-the-moment Naughty Boy.
