Rita Ora, The Saturdays and Carly Rae are locked in an all-girl battle at the top of today’s Official Singles Chart Update. With less than 5,000 copies separating all three acts, the race to the coveted Number 1 spot this weekend is looking fierce.
21-year-old chart topper Rita Ora is currently leading the way with R.I.P FT Tinie Tempah. Check out an interview with Rita below:
Meanwhile girlband The Saturdays are the highest new entry as they return with new single 30 Days (2), taken from their upcoming fourth studio album.
Canadian pop princess Carly Rae Jepsen shows no sign of fading this week as Call Me Maybe is today’s Number 3, but at only a nail-biting 26 copies behind The Saturdays, the field is still wide open for the ladies of pop to tussle right up to Sunday’s final whistle!
The Official Charts Company this week also revealed Carly Rae Jepsen as the first chart topper of the brand new Official Streaming Chart – the UK’s first official rundown showing not what the British public are traditionally purchasing, but listening to via music audio streaming services such as Spotify, Deezer, We7 and Napster, to reflect the growing interest in this new generation of music services.
The Official Update Top 5 is completed by Fun FT Janelle Monae’s We Are Young (4), and Alex Clare’s Too Close (5).
New entries
D’banj, the Nigerian singer/songwriter and harmonica player signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D label enters the Official Update at Number 9 with Oliver Twist, while New York glam-poppers Scissor Sisters are hot on his heels with new offering Only The Horses (10). Grime MC Skepta’s Make Peace Not War is fresh in at Number 23.
Hovering just outside the Top 40, Mark Ronson FT Katy B’s Anywhere In The World is currently at Number 42, while Madonna’s Girl Gone Wild is at 49.
