Rihanna shares details about her ninth studio album
The singer shares small details about her highly anticipated new album.
Rihanna might have been quiet on the music front over the past two years while she builds her business mogul brand, but she's assured fans in a new interview that new music is on the horizon.
In an interview with the New York Times, Rihanna said she hopes to release her ninth record this year and she may even name it R9 - the working title given to it by her fans online.
Big albums still to be released in 2019
"No, so far it’s just been R9, thanks to the Navy," she said when asked if the record had a title. "I’m about to call it that probably, ’cause they have haunted me with this 'R9, R9, when is R9 coming out?' How will I accept another name after that’s been burned into my skull?"
Rihanna also confirmed the long-running rumour that she's making a reggae album, though denied reports she has collaborated with Lady Gaga: "Maybe because she followed me on Instagram. It’s not in the books right now, but I’m not against it." Last summer it was reported that Rihanna was working with 500 new songs for the dancehall album - we dread to think how many she's deciding between now.

The star also said a Drake collaboration isn't happening "anytime soon," adding: "I don't see it happening. Not on this album, that's for sure."
Rihanna was discussing her latest business venture in the interview, her high fashion Fenty line, which will be unveiled this month.
While we all wait for Rihanna's new album, look back through all of her single and album artwork - it's quite the journey...
