Rag'n'Bone Man's Human is the UK's Number 1 trending song this week

It's the song that is one everyone's lips and in everyone's ears after last weekend's The X Factor.

Rag n Bone Man is having one hell of a week. First he was announced as one of BBC's Sound of 2017 nominees, and now he's got the UK's top trending song.

Real name Rory Graham, the 31-year old MC has been thrust into the spotlight in recent weeks due to the popularity of his track Human, which debuted on the Official Singles Chart at Number 77 last week.

Following Saturday night's performance of the song on The X Factor from semi-finalist Emily Middlemas, Human has shot up the Singles Chart, rising 68 places to Number 9 on yesterday's Official Chart Update. This surge up the chart has translated to the Number 1 placing on the Official Trending Chart (full details on the chart's methodology can be found at the bottom of the page).

Human has already performed well across Europe, hitting Number 1 in Germany, Belgium, Austria and Switzerland. Will the UK be next?

Huge climbs on yesterday's midweek chart update for The Weeknd, Nevada and Jonas Blue send their songs flying high on the Official Trending Chart this week, while Robin Schulz's brand new tracks Shed A Light with David Guetta and Cheat Codes and Calum Scott's Rhythm Inside are brand new entries that are already impacting following their release last Friday (November 25).

Two songs are making waves this week thanks to their appearance on prime time TV shows this week. First up is Ellie Goulding's Still Falling For You, boosted by her performance on the Strictly Come Dancing results show. Meanwhile, Sia's Alive has bounced back following Matt Terry's performance of the track on X Factor.

About the Official Trending Chart

The Official Trending Chart is a brand new chart launched for 2016 to highlight the hottest new tracks beginning to make an impact in the UK every week.

The Top 20 rundown, published on OfficialCharts.com every Tuesday, based on the first four days’ sales of each chart week, is designed to highlight emerging hits as they begin to scale the Official Charts and build buzz.

The Official Trending Chart ranks titles which are showing week-on-week chart growth, and is the only “new music” chart to reflect audio track sales and streams comprehensively across all services.

Devised by the Official Charts Company in close consultation with labels, retailers and media, the chart since launch has already highlighted emerging hits such as Number 1 singles Mike Posner’s I Took A Pill In Ibiza and Drake's One Dance.

The chart is designed to help highlight hit singles in their early stages of their growth, in the light of the shift in release strategies of record labels over the past six months. Under “On Air On Sale”, labels have started to release new music for consumers to buy or stream on the same day as those tracks are released to media (including radio stations and TV).
