Playboi Carti nets first chart-topping album with MUSIC
The Atlanta rapper's third studio record earns him a career-best

Playboi Carti earns his first-ever Official Number 1 album with MUSIC.
The Atlanta rapper, born Jordan Terrell Carter, previously saw UK Albums Chart success with 2018’s Die Lit (27) and 2021’s Whole Lotta Red (17).

Steven Wilson matches his previous solo career-best with eighth studio collection The Overview (3). It joins 2011’s Grace For Drowning (34), 2013 LP The Raven That Refused To Sing (28), 2015’s Hands Cannot Erase (13), 2016’s 4 1/2 (21), 2017 release To The Bone (3), 2021’s The Future Bites (4) and 2023’s The Harmony Codex (4) in Steven’s tally of solo Top 40 records.
As a member of Porcupine Tree, Steven’s scored a further four Top 40 LPs: 2007’s Fear Of A Blank Planet (31), 2009’s The Incident (23), 2022’s CLOSURE / CONTINUATION (2) and its 2023 live recording CLOSURE / CONTUINUATION. LIVE. AMSTERDAM 07/11/22 (36).
The Overview is named this week’s biggest seller in UK independent record shops; debuting at Number 1 on the Official Record Store Chart. It’s the most popular LP of the past seven days on wax, too, topping the Official Vinyl Albums Chart.
Manchester-formed rock outfit The Slow Readers Club net their fifth Top 40 with seventh studio album Out Of A Dream (11). The band – Aaron and Kurtis Starkie, James Ryan and David Whitworth – previously saw success with 2018’s Build A Tower (18), 2020’s The Joy Of The Return (9), 2020 LP 91 Days In Isolation (33) and 2023’s Knowledge Freedom Power (29).

It’s a solo career-best for Thin Lizzy and Black Star Riders lead singer Ricky Warwick, who celebrates his first Top 40 set with Blood Ties (25).
Symphony Of Lungs – BBC Proms At The Royal Albert Hall, a collaborative record with conductor and composer Jules Buckley, earns Florence + The Machine a seventh Top 40 album (38). Recorded in September 2024 to mark 15 years of their debut, it joins 2009’s Lungs (1), 2011 release Ceremonials (1), 2012’s MTV Unplugged (27), 2015’s How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful (1), 2018 collection High As Hope (2) and 2022’s Dance Fever (1).
Following its release on Blood Records white powder-filled vinyl, Charli xcx’s 2024 album Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat makes its Top 40 debut this week (40). The BRAT remix LP now sits alongside 2015’s SUCKER (15), 2019’s Charli (14), 2020’s how i’m feeling now (33), 2022’s CRASH (1) and 2024’s BRAT (1) in Charli’s Top 40 tally. Charli made her UK Albums Chart debut in 2013 with True Romance (85).
And finally, breakout US singer-songwriter Alex Warren is on the cusp of his first-ever Top 40 album with You’ll Be Alright, Kid (Chapter 1), jumping 13 to a new Number 41 peak this week.
