The Sweeney goes straight in at Number 1 on the Official Video Chart to give Plan B star Ben Drew his first chart-topping DVD and Blu-ray.

With two Number 1 albums under his belt, Plan B is now stranger to topping the charts. But now the multi-talented London-based singer songwriter and actor can add a Number 1 on the Official Video Chart to his ever growing list of accolades, thanks to the DVD and Blu-ray release of The Sweeney.

Plan B (real name Ben Drew) stars alongside legendary British actor Ray Winstone, and Homeland star Damian Lewis in Nick Love and John Hodge’s big screen adaptation of the hit 1970s police drama. The Sweeney is the fifth home video release featuring Drew to debut in the Official Video Chart Top 10; most recently his directorial debut, Ill Manors, peaked at Number 7 in the chart in October of last year.

Last week’s Official Video Chart Number 1, Dredd, slides one place to Number 2, while Ole Bornedal and Sam Raimi’s horror film The Posession is new in at Number 3.

This week’s Official Video Chart Top 5 is completed by western gangster flick Lawless (starring Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman) at Number 4, and Monster High’s double feature of Friday Night Frights / Why Do Ghouls Fall In Love? at Number 5.

In related news, The Sweeney is also Number 1 on the Official DVD Chart and the Official Blu-ray Chart, while Les Miserables' 25th anniversary concert holds onto its lead on the Official Music On Video Chart. And finally, series 5 of the BBC’s Merlin tops the Official TV On Video Chart.
