Perrie updates us on the release plan for her debut LP
Perrie Edwards Tears One Show performance Little Mix

If there's one thing Perrie loves doing, it's performing live.

With the Little Mix star possessing some of the biggest pipes in the business, it's hardly a surprise. From those final Forget About Us ad-libs to Tears' delicate delivery, the range is ranging.

So, to celebrate Perrie's first live TV performance of Tears on The One Show, we caught up with Pez in rehearsals; and obviously we had to get an update on her debut solo album, too.

MORE: Perrie talks Tears, tours and album titles

Hey, Perrie! You're in rehearsals for your first TV performance of Tears - are you excited?

Oh yes! I can't wait to perform Tears for the first time on live TV tomorrow evening on The One Show.

Performing live is literally my favourite thing in the world. Anyone that knows me, knows it's my happy place.

How's the album recording going? Can you share any updates with Official Charts?

I get so many comments from my fans asking about updates on the album and when it will be released. I’m working on it! I’m so close.

The tracks are all there but I'm back in the studio finishing the vocals this month. I'm such a perfectionist, I just wanna make sure it’s the best it can be.

The fans on socials are adamant they want even more vocal moments from you, all the comments are saying it! Have you seen?

I've seen all the amazing comments on my performances so far and that's inspired me to push myself even further and go even bigger with the vocals and the harmonies on the album. I've been throwing in some extra ad-libs here and there. I love an ad-lib!

And, Perrie, the question on every Aura's lips - when's the album coming?

I’ve promised myself that I'll stop making tweaks soon as I’m excited to get it out into the world. It's going to be released early next year.

Until then, I’m excited to release more songs and hopefully there will be lots more performances. I would love to do some live shows around the album release, too, so we are working on a plan to try and make that happen.

There’s so much to look forward to. I’m nervous, of course, but also super excited for what’s to come.

Perrie Edwards Tears

Chatting to Official Charts about the making of Tears recently, Perrie explained: "Tears actually came right at the start. I went to LA for two weeks to do a writing camp and, at the time, I didn't know what my sound was or who I was as a solo artist.

"I heard Tears because the head of my label sent it to me. It was by Ido [Zmishlany], a producer in America and Feli [Ferraro], who's an incredible songwriter, and I just fell in love with the song. I loved the vibe of it. It felt really nostalgic and old school. Then, I went back to London and I wrote sisters for it on the album. It really inspired my album."

This comes as Tears enters the UK Radio Airplay Chart at Number 10, with Forget About Us having recently spent seven weeks at Number 1 on that very same chart.

Perrie's Tears is out now via Columbia. Catch Perrie performing on BBC One's The One Show this Friday, July 12 from 7pm BST.
