One to watch: Ariana and the Rose gets very real on new single You Were Never My Boyfriend
Those familiar with Ariana and the Rose will be well aware of a.) her knack for a synth-pop banger and b.) lyrics that are genuinely very relatable.
Her new single, You Were Never My Boyfriend, takes control of that frustrating moment with someone you're kinda, sorta, not really - or are we? - dating.
The track, out now, heads up her new EP called Constellations - Phase 1, which follows on July 26. Listen now:
"Was just a film on a Sunday night/ Walked through the park with your hand in mine," she opens with, adding: "You made me think it was in my head, but I swear you were never my boyfriend". It's bold, but the bobbing synths and finger-snapping chorus give it just the right level of causal, hair-flip sass.
Expect the video to drop around April 15 which, judging by these behind the scenes photos from it, you can expect to see killer boots, fiery rubbish bins and a coat that would probably make you happier than any potential partner.
The Constellations - Phase 1 EP includes another three songs in a similar vein to You Were Never My Boyfriend, including a haunting take on N Sync's Bye Bye Bye and the Carly Rae Jepsen-channelling True Love. Keep a look out for it on July 26.
