One Direction catalogue sees midweek chart surge following death of Liam Payne
One Direction's back catalogue is expected to experience a surge on this week's Official Charts, following the tragic death of member Liam Payne last Wednesday (October 16).
The group, which also comprised Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Harry Styles, could see all of their five studio albums return to the UK Top 40 this Friday (October 25), with Liam's solo record LP1 also eyeing uplift as fans mourn the late singer and songwriter.
In today's Official Albums Chart Update the band's second studio record, 2012's Take Me Home, looks to return to the Top 20 for the first time in 11 years, currently placing at Number 12. One Direction's first chart-topping LP, Take Me Home hosts the singles Live While We're Young (3), Little Things (1) and Kiss You (9).
Three further former chart-toppers from The X Factor-formed phenomenon are also expected to land inside this week's Top 20: 2013's Midnight Memories (14), 2015's Made In The A.M. (15) and 2014 release FOUR (20).
The group's 2011 debut Up All Night, which originally peaked at Number 2, could return to the Top 40 for the first time in 11 years, at Number 33 midweek.
Elsewhere, Liam's 2019 solo album LP1 looks to lift back into the Top 100 (49).

In today's Official Singles Chart Update, One Direction's emotive 2014 single Night Changes stands to surge to Number 13, having previously peaked at Number 7 on its original release.
2013 release Story Of My Life looks to return to the Top 40 for the first time in 10 years (21), as the band's iconic 2011 debut What Makes You Beautiful also expects uplift (48).
Liam's 2023 solo single Teardrops could reach a new UK Singles Chart peak this week (66), as Rita Ora duet For You (67) and Quavo collaboration Strip That Down (73) see gains midweek.

i'm so sorry again about liam passing so young! it was fun seeing 1D do their thing here in the states. my fave billboard chart memory of them is when their single 'best song ever' debuted @ #2 on the hot 100 chart & was stuck behind robin thicke's 'blurred lines'. it's too bad the #1 debut didn't happen for them, but still lots of fun times!
