One Direction’s Midnight Memories is STILL the UK’s best selling album

Midnight Memories tops the Official Albums Chart for a second consecutive week, while Il Divo, Rebecca Ferguson, Richard And Adam, Leona Lewis and Britney Spears score new entries.
One Direction have held onto the Number 1 spot on the Official Albums Chart for a second consecutive week with Midnight Memories.
Last Sunday, the group’s third studio full-length became the fastest selling artist album of 2013 so far, shifting an incredible 237,000 copies during its first week on sale. According to the Official Charts Company’s sales data, a further 124,000 copies of Midnight Memories have been purchased over the last seven days.
If momentum continues at its current rate, by Christmas Midnight Memories could become one of the Top 5 biggest selling albums of this year.
Take That stars Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow trade places with Robbie’s Swings Both Ways album climbing to Number 2 with more than 91,000 sales this week. Gary’s Since I Saw You Last finishes the week in third place.
Olly Murs’ Right Place, Right Time holds firm at Number 4, while Il Divo claim their sixth Top 10 album today with A Musical Affair (5).
New Entries
In addition to Il Divo (Number 5), there are six other new entries on this week’s Official Albums Chart.
Rebecca Ferguson is new in at Number 6 with her second album, Freedom. The 27-year-old Liverpool singer / songwriter shot to fame in 2010 after becoming the runner-up on that year’s X Factor. She finished the series in second place, behind Matt Cardle and ahead of One Direction, and went on to sell more than 650,000 copies of her debut album, Heaven, in the UK alone.
Britain’s Got Talent finalists Richard And Adam debut at 24 with The Christmas Album, while Leona Lewis enters one place behind them with her festive offering, Christmas With Love (25).
Pop princess Britney Spears is new in at 34 with her self-titled album, Britney Jean, while Muse’s Live At Rome Olympic Stadium enters at 36.
